We're here!

We made it!  It is so hard to believe that we are actually here and doing this!!

There were so many times over the past few months that I really wasn't sure that we'd even be able to come to Quebec to study French - but here we are.  With all the lockdowns, restrictions and curfews happening in Ontario and Quebec, it seemed that coming here was just not going to happen.  But God has been so faithful - both in providing the funds and in allowing us to move here in person to take classes - it's truly a miracle.

We moved to Sherbrooke last weekend, so we have just completed our first week of classes.  Day one was pretty easy - orientation.  But for me, the second day was tough.  Six hours of French class for my teensy weensy brain.  SIX. HOURS. OF. FRENCH.   My brain was about to explode by the time I got home.

Speaking of home, you're maybe wondering where we live?  We live in a small two-bedroom apartment right on the school property, literally about 75 metres from our door to the school building.  We have the upstairs apartment and it's very cute.  It came fully furnished, so we just needed to bring our bedding, clothes, school supplies, winter gear, food, cleaning chemicals, books, and a few sundry items.  Yah, we brought a lot of stuff.  But it's great that we did, because here, due to restrictions you can ONLY buy food and gas.

Jack and Teddy still haven't started school here because it's been a bit tricky to get an appointment to register them.  We have a date for an appointment this coming Thursday, but no time or location.  So please be praying that we can get them registered and transitioning to french school this week.

We are so thankful for those of you who have supported our family all through this journey - and this is only the first leg.  You have been such a blessing in encouraging and supporting us.  We know there will be days of frustration and days of victory as we try to improve our language skills, but we also know that the greater goal in learning French is to be able to share the truth of Jesus with our Togolese friends.  That greater goal is something we may need to be reminded of now and then....feel free to remind us.

The area where we live is absolutely lovely - the scenery is beautiful, the school property is perfect for snowboarding, cross country skiing and sledding.  It's so nice to be able to get outside after school and enjoy the beauty.

If you can't be in school, you might as well have some fun!

So that's what's happening here.  School for all of us.  It's a big change for you-know-who but he is enjoying the change and learning quickly to use a computer.

  1. So happy to hear you've made it to Quebec! Keep paddling as you've been thrown into the deep end of French! Remember that exploding brains can be a good thing!:)
I'm reminded to lift you up in prayer every morning since I've been using your "older" ABWE card as a book mark in my current study of Ephesians. Your family has changed a bit since then. Praying for all of the details to fall in place for Jack & Teddy!
